WWW WEDNESDAYS… is a weekly event where you share (1)What you’re currently reading, (2)What you recently finished reading, and (3)What you think you’ll read next. This is a weekly meme created by MizB of Should Be Reading.
Remember that November is my reader appreciation month. I'm giving away a $5 Amazon or Starbucks gift card every week. Leave a comment Monday-Friday (midnight CST) of this week, and you're in the drawing on Saturday. I appreciate you.
What are you currently reading?
Bloodlines by Richelle Mead.
I'm listening to this one on audio during the commute and travel. Lori Freeland recommended this author to me. Actually, she mentioned the Vampire Academy series, but I downloaded this one in error. I began listening this week.
I'm not crazy about the narrator's reading. Word of advice to all aspiring book narrators: You must be really convincing while doing accents, or you sound like a cartoon character.
What did you recently finish reading?
Sharp Objects by Gillian Flynn
I was obsessed with reading Flynn's work. I read all three of her books in a row. She writes extremely dark mysteries.
There were parts in Sharp Objects when I felt a little quesy and stressed. Flynn evokes visceral reactions with her writing.
“Sometimes I think illness sits inside every woman, waiting for the right moment to bloom. I have known so many sick women all my life. Women with chronic pain, with ever-gestating diseases. Women with conditions. Men, sure, they have bone snaps, they have backaches, they have a surgery or two, yank out a tonsil, insert a shiny plastic hip. Women get consumed.” - from Sharp Objects by Gillian Flynn
What are you reading next? Here are my choices:
Also, I may watch movies over the holiday. I've missed that. Lori Freeland (author of "Refugee" in Wild at Heart, Vol. 2) participated in the booksigning for Wild at Heart. When she arrived in Arkansas last weekend, I was thrilled. In addition to attending the book signing, we watched Breaking Dawn Pt. 2; Cabin in the Woods; and Abe Lincoln, Vampire Hunter. I had a blast. Lori's ears hurt from my screams during Cabin in the Woods. I really couldn't help it.
Watch any good movies or read a good book you'd like to recommend?
