Have you ever had a week when you can't seem to catch up? I've had a busy couple of weeks and am behind on reading blogs and writing posts. I apologize if I've seemed absent in the blogosphere. Yesterday, I posted on the Diamond State Romance Authors blog about research for writers with a post: I'm an Expert. Drop by if you are interested in a list of online resources.
My work schedule has been hectic, and then I decided to get away for a few days with the girls. My dear husband gave me a trip to Nashville for an early birthday present. Yes, today I am 29 years old AGAIN.
The Lovely Ms. S and me
On our trip, we stopped in Memphis to eat at Texas de Brazil. We only had the salad bar, and it was delicious and far less expensive than the full menu.
I'm here to convince you that this is a full meal. Look at this salad bar menu from their website:
After you have been seated, we welcome you to help yourself to an extravagant 50-60 item salad area. You will find this is a steakhouse that even vegetarians love™. Sample four freshly made in-house salad dressings, gourmet artisan breads, and imported cheeses, along with items such as fresh buffalo mozzarella, steamed asparagus with strawberry sauce, Brazilian hearts of palm, grilled Portobello mushrooms, Greek olives, shrimp salad, imported Italian salamis, sautéed mushrooms, herbed sweet onions, pork black beans, jasmine rice, spicy surimi sushi, soup du jour and many other specialties.
The fun Ms. J and me
We arrived at our hotel, the Gaylord Opryland. There is an atrium with thousands of plants and trees in the center of the facilities. Because I am the birthday girl, we had booked the birthday special which is a better rate. This place has great rooms, restaurants, etc. We didn't get to lounge at the pool as much as we'd like due to some stormy weather.
Next door, we discovered the largest outlet mall I've ever seen in my life. It was also tax-free weekend. I bought a massage machine that sends a bioelectronic signal to your muscles. It's very similar to what they use on my neck and shoulders at the chiropractor. It's awesome.
We went downtown to the Wildhorse Saloon. You can see people line dancing in this photo. As you can tell, I am seated at a table and therefore not line dancing. I am not a country music gal, but I did have fun. I also haven't seen so many pairs of cowboy boots in my life.
Crab cakes Benedict
The meals were scrumptious.
I had shepherd's pie for the first time at Cheesecake Factory. I'll be dreaming about that dish. Check out their menu if you've never been to one.
Then we decided the next day to have brunch at Yolo's. I had crab cakes benedict. I'm surprised I didn't make Ummm Yum sounds all throughout the meal. Then again, I may have.
Back to reality...
