Earlier this week, you heard me singing the praises of John Green. It all started when I downloaded a book that I thought my husband and I could listen to on a long vacation drive. I chose Looking for Alaska.
Early in the drive:
Husband: So this is YA?
*Husband makes a face since he doesn't like much YA*
Husband: Really? Hmm...What made you pick this book?
Me: It has great reviews. BTW, I think it's been banned in some schools.
Middle of drive:
Husband: What do you think put this book on a banned list?
Me: The profanity.
Husband: No, not it.
Me: The sex.
Me: The drinking? **he shakes head** What then?
Husband: The smoking. They smoke too much.
End of drive and book:
Husband: That's the best YA I've ever read (heard).
Note: Husband went on to read Will Grayson, Will Grayson. He agrees that it is terrific.
My husband is wrong. It's not the smoking. John Green and his brother Hank have lots of videos posted on YouTube where they call themselves the VlogBrothers and also nerdfighters. The video below featuring John Green was uploaded to YouTube in January of 2008 and has almost 500,000 views. Thanks to Tami Clayton and Sandi Jones for pointing out the awesomeness of John Green's vlogging.
