Welcome to this edition of the Insecure Writers Support Group. There are over 300 writers who post the first Wednesday of every month to encourage each other.
If you'd like to join, click HERE to visit founder Alex Cavanaugh's blog. He's the author of CassaStar, CassaFire, and CassaStorm as well as being a super-nice blogger. His awesome co-hosts today are Julie Flanders, Heather Gardner, Kim Van Sickler and Elsie is Writing. Please be sure to thank them for their time and effort to make all IWSG members feel welcome.
The Helpful Writer and Blogger Community
When I joined the writing community, I had no idea that I'd be joining a family. Over the past few years, I've developed friendships with people online. I communicate with some writers so much that I feel I know them well. I know their struggles, milestones, and successes.
I even get to hang out with some writers in person. A couple of weeks ago, I was able to participate in a book signing with a dozen of my writer friends. The afternoon was fun and relaxing. When a reader browsed our tables, we promoted each other.
If you aren't talking with other writers, you are missing out on a great resource. Be a giver (of knowledge and aid) as well as a taker. Seek out mentors and/or serve as a mentor. Pat a writer on the shoulder when times are tough. Celebrate when he finishes a book, signs a contract, or hits a bestseller ranking.
I have an upcoming release for the third book in my Whispering Woods series. It's called Watcher of Worlds. The tentative release date is December 20th. I'll need help to spread the word about it, and I know I'll be able to count on some online friends. If you would like to help out, click this link and I'll send you some more information very soon. Thanks!
