14 inches of ponytail
When my son was little, I always told him to do good in the world. "Use your powers for good," I'd say. I was really talking about his mathematical and scientific genius, but sometimes we overlook the small ways we can make a difference.
My son was born on my birthday, and I've always considered him a gift. He visited last week, and we celebrated by getting our driver's licenses renewed together (weird mother-son activity) and eating out with the family. We ate cupcakes made by my sister. He made me smile a lot. Life is good.
Some aren't as lucky as we are. My son reminded me of that when he cut his 14-inch long ponytail for Locks of Love on his birthday. He'd mentioned this goal in the past.
