I'd like to introduce Christine Ashworth, author of the Caine Brothers novels. Her new release, Demon Hunt, hit the shelves yesterday.
Christine, I've been hanging around your blog for a while now. Not only are you an accomplished writer, you know about my favorite topics -- food and drink. You have such a yummy series of posts at your blog, Wicked...With a Side of Saucy.
How did you come up with such an original theme for your blog posts?
I took a blogging class with Kristen Lamb. She kept telling us to focus on our passions; what we like to do outside of writing. For me, that was drinking wine and cooking. Taking into account the terrible state of the economy, and how out of touch Food & Wine Magazine seemed to be regarding most people's pocketbook, I decided to step into what I saw was an opening - blogging about wines, under $10, that you can find in your local grocery store. (Who has the time or money to go to a specialty store any more? Not me!)
If I visited your home, would I get to sample some of this goodness you're always posting on your blog? What would you serve?
Yes, of course! Just close your eyes to the amazing amount of clutter in my house, okay? If you had come last night, we had white wine spritzers and pizza on the grill. Yummy! Well, most of the pizzas were. There were a couple "off" flavors - but that's a post for another day. Tonight we're having Arroz con Pollo, and my oldest son (21) is going to be working side by side with me. I'm determined to teach those boys how to cook!
Tell us a secret about you that would surprise most people.
Wow...I think all my secrets are out there by now. Hmm, let me think...well, this isn't really a secret but it's not out on the web yet. I'm giving myself fifteen to twenty minutes of ballet barre workout every day. I miss ballet. My body knows what it should do, but it just can't do it the way it could when I was seventeen. If I keep working at it, I hope to restore flexibility and get those long, lean and lovely muscles back. Oh, and here's another one. My brother Scott nicknamed me "Legs" when I was thirteen. Does that count as a secret?
I see on your About Page that you know how to survive a zombie apocalypse. Please give us some instructions/tips.
First off, live with teenaged boys. Mine know how to hunt and kill zombies, because they play live-action zombie games in the local park with about 20+ other kids. That always helps. If you don't have that, then have the keys to your nearest Costco. Lock yourself in. It really helps if there's a gas station and a Home Depot near by. If, despite your precautions, a Zombie does get within your safety zone, aim for the head. Use a shovel, a flamethrower, anything but don't get within arms' reach!
Until the zombies get here, we can safely read your books. Yay! You've just released Book Two in the Caine Brothers series, Demon Hunt and a Caine Brothers short story called Blood Dreams. Please give us a hint of what to expect.
Warning: These are adult books, filled with some graphic violence, sex, and mild cursing. That said, both Blood Dreams and Demon Hunt are dark books. There are threads of humor, but both are set in an unusually cold December in Santa Monica, California. People start disappearing, and dreams haunt Tribred Gregor Caine. He's always rejected his mixed demon/human/Fae blood, and focuses strictly on his human side. But when the Warrior Fae Serra Willows comes through to the Human Plane to help catch a madman and stop a demon invasion, Gregor finds his bloodlines stirring the gifts inside him. They also stir his attraction to the Fae! The last few chapters of the book are all battle scenes, plus one scene that always makes me cry. In the end, it's who you choose to stand by your side that makes it possible to win the battle.
Brinda, thank you so much for having me! I'm a huge fan of your work, and being here has just made my day.
“Demon Hunt sucked me in from the very first page. A potent, exciting, Fae adventure that keeps you turning pages while you try to catch your breath. Ashworth’s talent shines in this unique and original novel. Do not miss it.”

It's December, and Los Angeles is in the grip of a serial killer – or so Gregor Caine would like to believe. But the moon grows fat as it builds toward the Winter Solstice and an eclipse. An old woman searching for a friend gone missing believes danger is coming, and the Blood Dreams that keep interrupting Gregor's sleep portend a swarm of demonic activity.
After summer's setback, Kendall Sorbis is finally getting started on his Revenge Life List.
First up, open a portal to the Chaos Plane. Second, invite the Caines to come and play..
