The A - Z blogging has begun. Today is the letter A. I'll be blogging on things I love. I do love technology, so many of my posts will revolve around the apps, gadgets, and tech services I can't do without.
I have the two-hour commute (100 miles total daily) that would be UNBEARABLE if it were not for the invention of the audiobook. Sometimes I do listen to music or podcasts, but a good audiobook makes me sprint to the parking lot when the day ends.
I pay a monthly fee for a credit at Audible.com. There are different packages, but this is the price I am comfortable with paying. I do have to supplement with audiobooks from the library. On the other hand, sometimes I get lucky and choose a book that lasts and lasts. Stephen King's 11-23-63:A Novel is a great example. That baby is 30 hours and 44 minutes long. Divide the length by 2 hours+ daily in the car and I can listen to it for three weeks. I used only one credit for this book and it costs me $14.95 (one month's credit).
The downside to the audiobook is that sometimes I hate the narrator and that ruins the story for me. A heavy accent can be really bad or sometimes a female tries to do a male character's voice or vice versa and the narrator is not gifted that way. Ugh. Do you listen to audiobooks and have you tried Audible.com?
