Ms. S and Ms. J
Last weekend, I put away the to-do list and traveled out of town with friends. My husband and I had a wonderful time with two other couples that we've known for over twenty years.

We stayed in a very old, historic hotel in Hot Springs, AR. It's supposedly haunted and hosted Al Capone during the gangster period. My husband teased me with reenactments of little Danny chanting, "Redrum, redrum" (The Shining). The place definitely had the chill factor. We visited local restaurants and had a good time.

I can't say enough about how important my friends are to me. My girls, Ms. S and Ms. J keep me laughing. I can depend on them through the good times and the bad.  Whatever your goal is in life and even though you may think you are too busy, don't forget about your friends.

On a different note, I ran across this humorous video on how Facebook makes decisions about their product.

Hah! Hilarious video, but sadly so true.

Funny video - and people wonder why I'm not on Facebook.
Glad you got out of town with friends! Nothing replaces quality time with those we care about.

I definitely rely on my non-web friends to remind to not take things so seriously. This author stuff is so important to me on so many levels that I forget how fun it is sometimes. I try to pass that on to my online friends as much as I can--you know, keep us laughing, and maybe point out how ridiculous our world is from time-to-time. :-)

Brinda, great post as always and that Facebook video was so SNL humor. Glad you got out of town and to a haunted hotel no less :)

The best part was the quote by Marlena ... indeed those you can call any time are true friends.

Woo hoo, Brinda. Best thing To Do sometimes is to leave the To-Do list behind and get into a Dodge (Toyota, Subaru... whatever) and get out of town.

My friends and I did not see anything. I must admit that I was scared when my husband went to the ice machine without me. lol

I love my friends. My best friend and I are more like sisters than friends. In fact, we bought each other sister bracelets and I wear them everyday. We have so much fun together and can communicate with just a look.

Thanks for the giveaway!

I don't have too many friends in real life. My guy friends stopped being my friend as soon as they found girlfriends that became wives. Even when they divorced, they never looked me up again. They were just interested in getting another companion so that they could get regular sex again.

My best "friends" are all girls. I have like two of them. They seem to be legitimately interested in actually doing stuff with me so about once a month, when their schedule isn't busy, we end up seeing a movie together or something like that.

In real life, my political leanings are openly democrat. I'm also not religious. Living in Utah where everyone is Republican and religious kind of makes me a social pariah. I came to peace a long time ago that I was never going to have many real friends. Doing things alone is second nature. I go see movies alone, go out to restaurants alone, and just live alone. I'm not advocating that life for everyone, but I've gotten to where I really enjoy my alone time. It's also incredibly empowering. I don't feel the need to put up with anyone. If someone is really annoying/needy/ or just wants money, I can say to them, "You know...why don't you go home? I think I'd have more fun just being by myself."

It's really cool though that you have lots of friends in your life. I am "sometimes" jealous of people who always have huge tables at restaurants, and I wonder what their holidays/Christmases are like.

I know you had a great time! And you're so right about friends being important.

Friends are great. I've kind of shied away from Facebook over the past several years though. That vid makes me want to jump right back in and put all my stuff on there... I just wish there were a place for my social security number in there, you know? Just in case I need it later.
