Hello 2013. Here's to another year of making plans, deadlines, and resolutions.

STOP!

I don't want to greet December 2013 with a list of unfinished items. I'm joining Christa Desir's campaign to start the year right. It's called the Jan Plan. It helps to start with one month of completing a project that's been pushed to the back burner.

" So I conceived of the idea of the JanPlan. This is the month for all of us to take a project and finish it. It can be anything...book, cleaning out the garage, knitting a sweater...it doesn't matter. Just whatever you have been putting off, it is time to finish. The holidays are over, it is the perfect time to start fresh and get focused."  ~ Christa Desir
My JanPlan goal is to complete the Empowering Characters' Emotions packet from Margie Lawson's Writer's Academy. That's it. I have other things I am working on this month, but that self-study packet is important to me. I keep putting it off.

I'm looking forward to 2013 and like the thought of baby steps toward accomplishing a lot. Have you ever seen the movie, What About Bob? I love this one. Yeah. Baby steps.

The Jan Plan - I like it!

I love What About Bob. Baby steps are huge when added together.

I am so in tune with this concept. I'm putting aside the distractions and the things which distance me from my goals and just using January to forge ahead! Don't you love that verb? Makes me think of the blacksmith sweating over the hot coals for hours patiently bending iron to his will. That's me for January.

The JanPlan sounds a bit more productive than my Un-Resolution List. :) I may have to implement this in order to get my novel d-o-n-e. All the way to The End. The packet you're going to work on sounds very interesting. May have to look into that also.

Tami- Go to Margie's website and you'll find the packets there. I've taken one class and then purchased a packet for another. If you take a class, the packet is part of that enrollment. I loved the class I took.

My new year's resolution simply consists of 1) I want to get a house this year 2) I want a new car this year 3) I want to lose weight and find love.

If I can get any of these three done, I will totally be happy by the end of 2013. I guess I didn't do too well today after consuming a Crispy Creme apple fritter. But I only ate half.

Good luck with your January goal.

Love your JanPlan idea, Brinda. I'm going to be a copy cat and copy your goal. I've been part way through Margie's Deep Editing lectures for errr a couple years now. It's ridiculous to put this off because the material is awesome. I need to get my WIP edited by the end of Jan too. So there, I said it!

Love 'What About Bob?' And you will love Margie Lawson's Empowering Character's Emotions. Go, Brinda!

'What About Bob?' is one of my favorite movies of all time! :-D "It's called 'death thereapy' Bob!" lol

Hope you had a great New Year Brinda!

What about Bob was a fun movie. I'd forgotten about it. Since I've a deadline this month, no backburner projects for me. I do hope to write & submit some shorts this year... we'll see. I also plan on publishing 3 books, maybe 4. That's probably a bit too ambitious though.

Baby steps can lead to big things!

Hey, lady! The Jan plan, sounds like a good one! I for one plan on following it, too. And I love What About Bob! I haven't seen it in years, so I think I'll search it on Netflix. Happy New Year and happy writing! :)

I like to have long-term goals and fulfill them with baby steps--doing things last minute or in a crunch don't work for me, although I've worked like if I had to.

I like the sound of Jan Plan.

I love What About Bob? .,, such a great movie.
I'm starting to realize I need more detailed goals with shorter time frames... the Jan Plan is an excellent idea!
