I'm not the coolest person on Instagram

I know. Shocker, right? I'm still trying to find my niche. I take random pics of everything with my handy iPhone. The problem is that Instagram makes everything look so dang good. Those filters turn my amateur photo into a tiny masterpiece. Almost.

There is this one guy that I follow. I've never met him. He's sorta famous.  Instagram is like Twitter where you can follow anybody that you like if they make their photos public. This guy is a musician from Brooklyn who tours the world and takes photos on Instagram. So, you have to check this guy out from the band Grizzly Bear. He takes killer pics.

Beautiful pics. No, I don't do instagram. I suppose I just don't understand why it's different enough for me to want to. But I suppose it's like that shift from mySpace over the Facebook everyone made a few years ago, no one really knows why that sort of stuff happens, it just does.

So I'll probably make the switch once I see twitter dying on me.

It's only fun if you like to take pics with your phone. You should try it if you have an iPhone. The app is free.

01/11/2013 3:08am

I have an Instagram account, but I haven't posted anything on it.

Those are awesome pictures.

Never even heard of it before! Probably too busy reading :)

I hear you. If it weren't for the fact that it's an app on my phone, I'd never take pics.

01/11/2013 5:45am

I need to take Instagram 101. I can't get it to work on my phone. :( I'm hopeless. I need to get my teenager to show me how.

Thank goodness for teens in the house. My adult son came home for Christmas and did some techie things with me. :)

Neither - not on Instagram and no cell phone. He does good work though.

Dear Alex,

I now am DEPENDENT on my cell phone. :(

01/11/2013 8:46am

I haven't tried Instagram yet but I kind of want to. I'm just afraid I will end up doing nothing but taking pics all day long LOL. I love these pics, how awesome.

Brinda
01/12/2013 3:52am

I don't take a pic everyday. I do have my phone with me all the time, so it's easy to grab and click.

01/11/2013 8:53am

I'm not on instagram and I just started taking photos with my phone. I'm not very good at it.

Brinda
01/12/2013 3:52am

I never said I was good at it either. ha ha

01/11/2013 9:26am

I took one picture with my phone when I first got it. Back to my camera. DH bought me a new one with better pixely thingees on it for Christmas. Yes, I'm that technical. I'm a point-and-shooter girl, but that seems to work for me. Instagram? Hey, I know how to download pictures to my laptop and use them in my posts. What else do you want?

01/11/2013 4:22pm

Sherry, you're just so funny. Love it. I like simple cameras and am glad that my iPhone takes amazing pics. I don't have to carry my digital camera anymore. Did love Brinda's link to this amazing photo site. My pics don't look anywhere near as good as his.

You are so technical--pixely thingees. I love it!!

Wow. Gorgeous photos! I need to branch out a bit from taking photos of my cats on instagram. It DOES make it so easy to turn a otherwise meh photo into something pretty dang cool.

I take too many pictures of my dogs. Some days, they are the most interesting thing I see. lol

01/11/2013 2:46pm

Yes, Instagram had to retract their plan they announced in December that had so many users upset. Thank goodness they went back to the original terms of service.

01/11/2013 3:55pm

No Brinda, I am not on instagram but my daughter has hundreds of amazing photographs she shares with me ... tells me every which way from Sunday that I need to step up to the 21st Century ... Alas, I leave that bit of modern creativity to yours and her generation ... while I sit and enjoy the wonderous images it brings to me :)

I've seen your pics (from a camera), and they are beautiful.

01/11/2013 4:41pm

Great pics! I can't load anything from my phone to my computer, so nothing on the phone gets to the internet. I can take pictures with the ipad, but it seems shaky and I don't love them. Still like the camera, but that means I have to get the chip out and hook it into the old computer, my laptop won't take the chip. Someday I'll join the e-picture revolution, then watch out!

Brinda
01/12/2013 3:56am

The easy thing about Instagram is they load online much like when you use the Facebook app to post updates. So, you don't have to hook anything up to a computer.

01/11/2013 5:53pm

Those pictures are great. I'm pretty lazy about unloading pictures from my camera. My phone is terrible.

Brinda
01/12/2013 3:57am

I agree that the pics are fantastic. I also follow this other guy who takes photos of food for his job.

01/11/2013 8:22pm

Those look like cool photographs!

I can't take photos with my phone, though I do have a point and shoot camera. Not on Instagram, either, though I opened a Flickr account when I was searching for images for my other website (the Eagle Directory).

Brinda
01/12/2013 3:57am

Flickr is cool, too!

01/12/2013 1:28am

Hey,

Instagram was made for me (I'm currently downloading ten Mega-gazillion bytes of pics made in December - but yet I've never tried Instagram.

Why is that?

Ahhh, I'm waiting for the extra nine hours in a day to be voted into law :)

Brinda
01/12/2013 3:58am

When those nine extra hours kick in, I hope I use them well. :)

01/12/2013 2:51am

Gorgeous photos. I never take photos with my phone since I tote my camera around with me everywhere.

Brinda
01/12/2013 3:59am

You are certainly a master photographer. I am in awe of your photo travelogues.

01/13/2013 8:44am

Love the pics, Brinda! Sure wish my camera and I were able to take pics like these!

01/13/2013 1:13pm

Yes! I love instagram. (michelledevans) I love seeing snippets of peoples lives. It's like a tweet with a pic. but I'm the dodgiest photographer! ha!
