I'm happy to introduce my friend Sara Hubbard. Sara is the author of Blood, She Read published by Etopia Press. Blood, She Read is Sara's debut, and you can imagine how busy she's been since the release a couple of weeks ago. Before we find out more about Sara, I'd like to announce the winner of last week's drawing from comments. Stephen Tremp's lucky comment number was drawn for a $5 Starbucks or Amazon card. I'm thankful for readers, and I love comments. This month, I'll give away a $5 Amazon or Starbucks gift card every week. Leave a comment, and it automatically counts as an entry.

Sara Hubbard's Three Wishes

Brinda, thank you so much for letting my hijack your blog today! I promise I’ll be good.

It’s been a little over a week since I became a published author! Whoot! And this week has been an absolute blur, filled with lots of promotion and very little writing. I’d planned on doing Nano but that has since fallen to the wayside, not that I mind. Promotion is kind of fun. Stressful, but fun. I mean, you’ll only ever release you first novel once, right?

So what am I going to talk about today? I won’t leave you in suspense. Brinda suggested some ideas when she asked me if I would be interested in posting on her blog, and one of those ideas immediately stood out: what would you wish for if you had three wishes. Who doesn’t want three wishes? Of course, my thoughts kind of wandered initially and I came up with an outline for another story…. Thanks for that, Brinda! But I quickly got back on track…hours later. What would I wish for, you ask? If you’d asked me a year ago I would have said ‘to be published’ but this is a reality for me now (giggle, giggle) so it looks like I still have my three wishes.

Here are my current three (and I’m a firm believer in ‘go big or go broke’):

One: I would like to make the NY Times bestseller list. Honestly, if a writer didn’t choose this one as one their wishes I think I’d call bull@#$%. I enjoy writing and first and foremost I write for me, but in order for me to write full-time and to quit my day job I have to make enough money to be able to pay my mortgage and feed my kids.

Two: A vacation home in England. My parents and my relatives are all English and I haven’t been back since I was a child. Although I don’t remember it I’ve always felt a pull to return there. I would want an old cottage in the countryside with lots of character, closets, and bathrooms. And an awesome kitchen—updated.

Three: Tour the world! My first stop would be Egypt. The pyramids have fascinated me since I was little, and to walk through one would be an absolute dream!

So now you know what my three wishes are, what are yours? Leave a comment below and tell us about them! But since I still have your attention, I’ll leave you with my book blurb! Hopefully, it will interest you!

Thanks so much for reading this! And thanks again, Brinda, for having me.

Blood,  She Read  by Sara Hubbard

Keeping secrets from a psychic can be murder.

Petra Maras lives a charmed life, but only in the magical sense. Her absentee father is a criminal, her mother is emotionally dead, and everyone at her new school knows she comes from a family of witches. All she wants is to be normal, but that's impossible, given her family. And given that she's psychic. When the police request help with a murder investigation, Petra reluctantly agrees. Which isn't such a good idea since the prime suspect wants to date her, and she really wants to say yes. Her gut says he's innocent, but since she can't get a read on him, she can't know for sure. And when she discovers he's been keeping secrets, she wonders if maybe she's been following her heart instead of her head...

Congratulations, Sara! Your world will never be the same.
And become a full time writer? That sounds terrifying to me. Too much pressure.
One of my wishes would be rock star!!

11/12/2012 7:48am

Awesome. Being a rockstar would be seriously cool.

11/12/2012 6:19am

Big Congratulations, Sara. Promotion is fun! Blood She Read sounds like a great read. Very best of luck with it!

One of my 3 wishes would be to have a winter home somewhere warm near water, big enough to have lots of company.

11/12/2012 8:19am

That's definitely a great wish. I'm in Canada so escaping the winter would be wonderful.

11/12/2012 7:01am

Congrats on the new release, Sara.

I'd love to live in a house that's near both mountains and a body of water.

I'd love to be a NYT bestselling author.

I don't know if I'd want to be a full-time writer, although I've thought about it. The thing is, I get so many ideas being out and about and doing non-writing things and working in a non-writing field.

11/12/2012 12:13pm

That's a valid point, Medeia. Being out and about inspires me too. I get a lot of ideas from nursing so I don't think I'll ever give it up entirely. I'll probably just drop my hours to casual. I'm a bit of recluse though, so we'll see.

Great post. I wish for good health, second home closer to family, and books, books to read!

11/12/2012 7:58am

Sarah, I'd like to tour the castles of Europe. And then the world... starting with the vineyards!

Beutiful cover, intriguing premise. Congratulations.

11/12/2012 8:07am

BLOOD, SHE READ Really a good book and can't wait for the SEQUEL. Hope all your wishes come true!

11/12/2012 8:16am

Good luck to Sara and Blood She Read! And I hope her three wishes come true. Especially the NY TImes Bestseller List.

11/12/2012 8:25am

Congratulations Sara!!! I love how the interview question gave you an idea for a story! I like all your answers too. I would love to tour the world, and who wouldn't want to be on the bestseller list! I hope all your wishes come true!

11/12/2012 9:35am

Sara, may all you wishes come true and may you continue to write and love your work and travel to the far reaches of our known world ... or beyond if you can :) Thanks for another great introduction, Brenda !!

11/12/2012 9:35am

All great wishes! And by the way, completely attainable for you, Sara. Congrats!

11/12/2012 9:58am

Congrats Sara!

I'm a fellow Canadian and one of my three wishes would be to move to the desert. After I hit the best seller list, of course!

Enjoy this spotlight moment and I wish you many more of them!!!

A big congrats on your release, Sara! Blood, She Read sounds like a great read. I've added it to my TBR list. Love the cover, too.

I think we have nearly identical wishes, though instead of the English countryside I think I'd opt for a flat in London. The pyramids have always fascinated me, too.

11/12/2012 1:08pm

Wish 1: One billion dollars.
Wish 2: I want to look like Ryan Gosling.
Wish 3: I want to be ten years younger than I am now so I can really enjoy the first two wishes.

Is that too greedy? Ah well. I'm a greedy bastard, what can I say?

11/12/2012 1:22pm

Congrats to Sara!

Wish 1 - everyone on the east coast be warm & safe
Wish 2 - 50 million dollars would be great
wish 3 - to see The Backworlds as a TV series

11/12/2012 3:10pm

I'd call b.s. on #1 also, lol. Congratulations on your release!

11/12/2012 6:27pm

HOW DID YOU KNOW ALL MY WISHES!!!!! ;)

11/12/2012 9:46pm

Congrats, Sara, on your success!

11/13/2012 2:19am

Congrats on your debut, Sara!

I wish I could head off on holiday again. Oh, and I'd like a maid!

11/13/2012 5:56am

Thanks for all the support! It means so much to me. And thank you for sharing your wishes.

11/13/2012 1:49pm

Congratulations, Sara!
