May is going to be a busy writing month for me. I joined an online class on May 1st called Savvy Author's Bootcamp. Authors come together in teams to enjoy comraderie, competition, and combustion.Yes, you heard the last word correctly. It's a firestorm of writing as quickly as you can. This method tests your ability to put the words on the paper. My personal goal began at 10,000 words per week. Then the drill sargeant put a challenge out for 2,000 words daily. Is my keyboard smoking yet?

My team consists of five other YA authors, and we're called the YA Avengers. I'm blessed to be part of such a group of talented and inspiring writers. We have a forum where we share ideas, brainstorm, and encouragement. We post word counts everyday, and our captain is holding us accountable. The scoreboard for week one went up today, and we placed 3rd out of 32 teams.

You probably thought that writing is always a solo act. You thought wrong.
