Welcome to today's post about someone special. He's maybe the most famous person in the blogosphere.   *Drumroll, please*

We salute Alex Cavanaugh, author of Cassa Fire and Cassa Star.

The bloghop is hosted by Mark KoopmansMorgan ShamyDavid Powers King and Stephen Tremp.

While Alex Cavanaugh is an awesome blogger at http://alexjcavanaugh.blogspot.com/,  he’s also an enigma.

So, I'll attempt to answer  four meaningful questions about Alex Cavanaugh

  •  In +/- 20 words, what does Alex look like?
Based on reading his blog, I'd say he looks like that guy they used to call Marky Mark.

  • In +/- 20 words, who could play Alex in a documentary?

Mark Robert Michael Wahlberg, of course.

  • ·In +/- 20 words, who does Alex remind you of?

Umm....that guy who played in Ted, The Departed and The Fighter?

In +/- 100 words, (excluding the title) write flash fiction using all these prompts:  Cavanaugh, Ninja,  IWSG, Guitar, and Cosbolt.

The Guy  (97 words)

For the tenth time this month, Ninja Captain Cavanaugh resisted the urge to act like a Cosbolt pilot with a target in sight.  "Rest," he told himself. "The masses will not notice if I write or play guitar  instead of comment on my followers' blogs."

He gnashed his teeth as he realized the futility of following his own orders. A naysayer once whispered into his ear, "No one notices your words on a IWSG  post. Seek your fame and fortune."

To that, Cavanaugh said, "I'm the guy who does his job. You must be the other guy."

***********
I feel like Alex Cavanaugh, but I'm dying to ask if you recognize the movie quote. :)

For Bonus Points:

·         In +/- 40 words, leave a comment for Mrs. Cavanaugh - thanking her for sharing.

Dear Mrs. Cavanaugh:
Do you feel like Ms. Santa Claus? We thank you for sharing. Without your support, Mr. Cavanaugh would probably be that OTHER guy mentioned in my flash fiction piece.
Sincerely,
Brinda
PS. Does he look like Mark?   (40 words)

Today is the Catch Fire Blog Party, celebrating the release of CassaFire by Alex J. Cavanaugh! The goal is to help CassaFire “catch fire” on the best seller charts and achieve the success of the first book, CassaStar. There’s also a special package of prizes being given away at the author’s blog (copies of CassaFire, CassaStar, tote bag, mug, and bookmarks) as well as book giveaways during his two-week blog tour. See Alex’s site for details: http://alexjcavanaugh.blogspot.com/

I'm so excited to be a part of celebrating the release of CassaFire. I'm almost finished reading  CassaStar and now I can continue the adventure. AND I am super-psyched to see a woman enter the scene. It's about time. *grins*

CassaFire

by Alex J. Cavanaugh

CassaStar was just the beginning…

The Vindicarn War is a distant memory and Byron’s days of piloting Cosbolt fighters are over. He has kept the promise he made to his fallen mentor and friend - to probe space on an exploration vessel. Shuttle work is dull, but it’s a free and solitary existence. The senior officer is content with his life aboard the Rennather.

The detection of alien ruins sends the exploration ship to the distant planet of Tgren. If their scientists can decipher the language, they can unlock the secrets of this device. Is it a key to the Tgren’s civilization or a weapon of unimaginable power? Tensions mount as their new allies are suspicious of the Cassan’s technology and strange mental abilities.

To complicate matters, the Tgrens are showing signs of mental powers themselves; the strongest of which belongs to a pilot named Athee, a woman whose skills rival Byron’s unique abilities. Forced to train her mind and further develop her flying aptitude, he finds his patience strained. Add a reluctant friendship with a young scientist, and he feels invaded on every level. All Byron wanted was his privacy…

CassaFire is the sequel to Cavanaugh’s first book, CassaStar, an Amazon Top Ten Best Seller:

“…calls to mind the youthful focus of Robert Heinlein’s early military sf, as well as the excitement of space opera epitomized by the many Star Wars novels. Fast-paced military action and a youthful protagonist make this a good choice for both young adult and adult fans of space wars.” - Library Journal
